Off the Trail

I painted this in September 2023 as a gift for my mother-in-law, who loved sci-fi.

It combines a few things that feel very Colorado to me — mountains, aspens, real leaves collected from Rainbow Trail, and a little unexpected Bigfoot moment.

For Rescue #1, I kept the parts I still loved and reworked the areas that never quite felt finished. I added more depth, texture, and detail while still keeping the original story of the painting intact.

This was the very first Painting Rescue, and it ended up taking about eight hours to complete.

The full rescue video is live on YouTube if you want to see the transformation from start to finish — surprises, changes of direction, and all.
